“The Story In Your Eyes,” an uptempo, Justin Hayward-written love song, peaked at Number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the Moody Blues' fourth Top 30 hit.

For unexplained reasons, the group withdrew the song after its initial release as a single in Britain.

The title of the Moodys' seventh album, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, was taken from the horizontal lines on sheet music, which represent the scale notes E, G, B, D, and F.

Every Good Boy Deserves Favour spent three weeks at Number Two on the Billboard 200, the Moodys' highest charting album in the U.S. until the band's next release, Seventh Sojourn, hit Number One in 1972.

In the U.K., Every Good Boy Deserves Favour hit Number One.

The Moodys' gold record for Every Good Boy Deserves Favour was presented to the band in October 1971 by Jay Silverheels, the actor who played Tonto in The Lone Ranger TV series.
