Rasheeda Ali is a native of Columbus, Ga. who graduated with the 1965 Class of Wm. H. Spencer High School! She attended Tuskegee University in Alabama before moving to New York City where she began her broadcasting career at WOR-AM Radio! After over 40 years, she retired in her hometown of Columbus from Clear Channel’s Urban Adult Station WAGH Magic 101.3 fm where she was Program Director and Air Personality known as “Queen Rasheeda!” She is a lover of music and worked with many formats to include Country, Pop, Blues, Jazz, Gospel and R&B! After a 10 year hiatus from radio broadcasting, “Queen Rasheeda” returned to PMB Broadcasting Company/RCG Media in the midday slot with her well-known Show, “Cruising with the Queen”.
Rasheeda’s civic duties have included working as a Facilitator with The New Georgia Project to educate citizens on the voting process and also serving as Publicity Person on the Wm. H. Spencer House Restoration Committee, Deputy Registrar, Canvasser with the Columbus Branch NAACP and recently with The Working Families Party that aided in electing Rev. Warnock and Jon Orsoff to the US Senate in the 2021 Georgia Runoff Election! Rasheeda also served as Co-Chair of the committee to save her High School Alma Mater and on the 2015 Vote Yes for Kids S.P.L.O.S.T. Campaign which elected to raise 192 million dollars for the Muscogee County School District. She is also Co-Founder of two Facebook Groups … “Help Restore the Historic Liberty District” and “Black History World-Wide!” In the past she served as the Treasurer/Curator of The Columbus Black History Museum & Archives, Ambassador of Historical Landmark Tours for the City of Columbus and a Member of the Executive Board for the Historic Liberty Theatre Cultural Center!
Rasheeda’s background in theater includes holding speaking parts in the stage presentation of “God’s Trombones” by James Weldon Johnson, “Gifts Unwrapped” by E.L. Stiles, “The Amen Corner” by James Baldwin, “Shakin’ the Mess Outta Misery!” by Columbus Native, Shay Youngblood and performed at the River Center for the Performing Arts Ground Breaking Ceremony in Columbus, Ga!
Ms. Ali shares her passion for computing, crocheting, reading poetry, performing “The Spoken Word”, sharing her knowledge of Black History as well as playing the piano.
She is the daughter of The Late Mrs. Rosie B. Jackson and Mother and Grand Mother of 2 sons and 2 grandsons!
